michaela angemeer (she/they) is a queer canadian poet, author, and artist who’s passionate about sharing her healing journey and inspiring readers to spend more time with their feelings.
since 2018, they’ve written six best-selling poetry books including when he leaves you (independent, 2018), you’ll come back to yourself (independent, 2019), please love me at my worst (andrews mcmeel, 2021), poems for the signs (independent, 2022), there is room for all of you here (independent, 2023), and please look into the mirror (independent, 2024), selling over 250,000 copies around the world.
a year after being self-published, an indigo exclusive version of please look into the mirror was released with a new cover, section, and fifteen more original poems.
michaela’s seventh collection, i would have never done it to you came out during the summer of 2026. the book’s main theme is breakups: friendship and romantic. it delves into patterns you can’t quite shake, breaking your own heart, learning the difference between being nice and kind, and harnessing bravery to tell the truth.
in 2025, michaela started pitter patter, a poetry print shop with all original designs and poems that features pitter patter mail club, a monthly envelope of goodies with over 100 members. pitter patter mail club came to be because of a renewed focus on slowing down, disconnecting from technology and reconnecting with the real world.
their work can be found on instagram and in a semi-monthly newsletter on substack, also called pitter patter.
michaela lives in kitchener, ontario with her frenchie mix, bea. you can find her intently browsing thrift stores, working at a local flower shop, or in her backyard looking up at the moon.
